Manna in the Morning, God Bless America

Manna in the Morning

On July 4, 1776 the American Colonies declared their independence from King George and the British Empire.  The American Colonists were so confidant God was on their side and justice and freedom would prevail, they signed the Declaration before a battle was joined, let alone the end of the war.  It was a hard and arduous fight, thousands of men gave their lives, people lost their property and fortunes before the war was finished.  The movie “The Patriot” accurately portrays the harsh, unyielding manner in which England dominated the colonies.  The American Declaration of Independence was a bold, untested step in the political climate of the world, every European Country was under a Monarchy, an Emperor ruled China and Japan, and a Constitutional Republic was a radically new concept in Government.  God had his hand upon this Nation because it was founded upon Biblical Principles and the Founding Fathers looked to God for guidance.  There was never any intention by this nation’s founders, the Presidents of the US, or Congress during the first 175 years, of restricting the right of a child to pledge Allegiance to the Flag under God, to hear God’s Word or not be allowed to pray in their schools; in fact, Church Services were held in the Hall of Congress.  These restrictions are among the many court decisions and legislative actions dealing with these rights as well as cloning, fetal tissue research, killing the unborn and other life issues, now clouding our Country’s existence.

The United States was founded upon the truths of God’s Word, and it is the return to those truths that will enable the USA to lead the world once again in missionary activity and active ministry.  Jesus said in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  As believers, without regard to political affiliation, we need to pray for our Government, for our President to lead in a God honoring way and for wisdom and discernment in appointing a conservative Supreme Court Justice to fill the existing vacancy.  For our Representatives and Senators as they enact legislation forgetting petty, personal politics, and legislating for the good of our Country.  Our  Federal Judiciary as they decide issues in a fair, honest, unbiased, Constitutional manner.  As we pray, God will fulfill his promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  On Independence Day 2009 let’s recommit to pray for our Nation, asking God to send a revival to our people and give America a renewed commitment to Godly, Biblical Principles.
